Science as a Process
Hypothetical-deductive thinking
       -Hypothesis
       -Deduction
Scientific Method
       -The Flashlight Problem (page 10)

Controlled Experiments
-Control groups give you something to compare the experimental groups to.
-The experimental group has only one thing (variable) different than the control
group.

Ex. Control group: normal temperature, no herbicide. (All eggs under this
condition hatch.)
Experimental group 1: high temperature, no herbicide. (11 hatched)
Experimental group 2: normal temperature, herbicide. (0 hatched)

Investigating mimicry in snake populations
-One species takes on similar characteristics to another species for
protection. King snakes have the same colours in different order than Coral
snakes. This protects the King snake, as it is not poisonous, but the Coral snake
is, so other animals avoid it.
-Scientists use plastesine, plastic or other model snakes to test theories of
predator/prey relationships.

      Controlled experiment:
Experimental group:
      -Artificial King Snake
Control Group:
      -Brown snake
