Conditional sentences are composed of two clauses: a condition clause introduced by "if" and a consequence clause. There are three main types of conditional patterns: the first conditional expresses probable conditions using present tense in the if-clause and future tense in the consequence clause. The second conditional expresses improbable conditions using past tense in both clauses. The third conditional expresses imaginary conditions not occurring now using past tense in both clauses.

You will be tired if you do a lot of exercises. • Note on 1st Conditional: If + present tense, future tense A modal verb (can, must, etc.) is sometimes used instead of a present tense.
- 5. 2nd Conditional : Improbable Condition It is used for present or future activities which are improbable or unlikely to happen Examples: If it rained tomorrow, we should stay at home. You could start dinner if it were ready. • Note on 2nd Conditional: if + past tense, would/should/could + verb
