This document provides instructions for four major assignments in an English 102 course focusing on environments and their impact on human identity and experiences.
The first assignment asks students to write a personal narrative essay reflecting on a place from their childhood and how it shaped their identity. The second assignment requires research on a social crisis connected to a specific location and arguing how the place influences the crisis.
The third assignment is a multi-genre project analyzing the rhetoric of the University of Idaho campus through various writing forms. The final assignment involves designing an "ideal learning environment" and pitching it to a panel through a visual model and short presentation, with a written rationale.
Rubrics are provided and negotiated for grading each assignment to accommodate diverse modes
