This chapter discusses adapting team-based learning (TBL) to online technical communication courses. TBL is typically used in large science and business classes to structure collaboration, but has limitations for online writing courses. The chapter describes redesigning a course using TBL principles like permanent student teams and repeated preparation-application-evaluation units. It also incorporates "multimodal editing" by having teams collaboratively analyze and revise sample documents before divided, layered writing. This approach aims to improve social learning and retention in online courses through effective collaboration.
