 You will produce;
◦ A media portfolio comprising a main and two
ancillary texts.
◦ A presentation of your research, planning and
evaluation in digital format.
 Work will be produced through a combination
of two or more of the following;
◦ Video
◦ Print
◦ Web-based
◦ Audio
◦ Games Software
 You will evaluate and reflect on the creative
process and your experience of it.
 You will evaluate your work digitally using the
four set questions as a guide.
 You can present your evaluation through;
◦ A blog
◦ DVD extras
◦ A podcast
◦ PowerPoint
◦ A website
◦ A combination of two or more of the above
 You can choose your own brief this year from the
options on the next slide.
 You will be responsible for undertaking the specific
research and planning for your chosen area.
 You can work in groups of up to four.
 You must have a blog this year – work cannot be
submitted any other way.
 The coursework is marked out of 100 with;
◦ 20 marks for research and planning
◦ 40 for the main task
◦ 10 each for the ancillary texts
◦ 20 for the evaluation
 Grade boundaries are the same as last year (82 marks
for an A grade.
 A music video plus a website homepage, a
digipak or a poster.
 A trailer plus a website homepage, magazine
cover or a poster.
 Two TV adverts plus a radio ad, sponsorship
sequence or a web pop-up.
 Two TV ads for a computer game plus
packaging, two hyperlinked pages or a
magazine ad.
 A TV trailer for a soap opera plus a magazine
cover, two hyperlinked pages or a poster.
 Title sequence of a children's TV drama plus a
magazine cover, DVD cover or a radio ad.
 TV documentary plus a radio trailer, double
page spread or a newspaper advert.
 First two pages of a local newspaper plus a
billboard poster, a radio ad or two
hyperlinked webpages.
 Website for a new TV channel plus a
newspaper advert, double page spread or an
animated ident sequence.

1.1 g324 advanced portfolio
 19th July – End of Term. ALL STUDENTS MUST
HAVE SET UP A BLOG/CREATED A WEBSITE.
 4th September – Back to school. COMPLETION
OF SUMMER PROJECT.
 20th October – Half Term. ALL RESEARCH AND
PLANNING COMPLETED.
 15th December – Christmas Break. MAIN AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS FINISHED.
 9th February – Half Term. EVALUATIONS
COMPLETED.
 As you are free to choose your own brief you are
also expected to take responsibility for
investigating example work.
 You will be issued with a list of suggested tasks
which you will need to organise so that you can
meet deadlines.
 If you work in a group you are responsible only
for your own contribution – you will need to
produce individual research and planning and
ancillary texts.
 Please can we try to treat the deadlines as
ACTUAL DEADLINES!!!!!
 All material for all tasks is to be produced by
you with the exception of non-original sound
or image material used in a LIMITED way in
video/radio work
 An example of limited use of video and audio
would be using a video extract of an
explosion and a sound of an explosion.
 For music video, permission should be sought from
the artist for the use of the audio track.
 All music choices will need to be approved by CCO
Copyright free options available for Music Video:
 Approach local bands and get permission to use their
material
 Approach unsigned bands on Twitter etc. and get
permission to use their material.
 Collaborate with music department/students in your
centre on the project
 Create your own music or sound track
 See Miss Cowles for more suggestions
The board are looking for you to:
 Plan and construct media products using appropriate
technical and creative skills (AO3)
 Apply knowledge and understanding in evaluating
your own work, showing how meanings and
responses are created (AO2)
 Undertake, apply and present appropriate research
(AO4).
G325 Exam - Link
 You will also need to reflect on your work and
analyse it in detail in Section A of the G325 exam.
 Your blog is for the evaluation but also your revision
and work towards this section of the exam.
 You have a bit of time to continue discussions if
you are working in a group.
 Think about how you are going to organise
yourselves. How are you all going to make sure
you get things done on time?
 If you are working alone this is your chance to
scribble down some initial ideas. Remember,
even this is bloggable evidence.
 Something to consider – are you going to need
outside help? Who can you ask? It is better to
organise this sooner.
