Sewage treatment technologies include activated sludge process (ASP), upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor (UASB), moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), and sequential batch reactor (SBR). ASP uses aeration and sedimentation to treat sewage in a continuous flow. UASB maintains a high concentration of microorganisms to treat sewage anaerobically. MBBR develops biofilms on floating carrier elements for treatment. SBR uses a single basin to perform fill, aerate, settle, and decant steps in sequential batches.
