- 1. Norwood NEWS No.20 February 2009 Information this week Family Art and Parents’ Evening As you are aware Parents’ Evening takes place next week. If you know you are not going to be able to make the allocated Literacy Fun Day time it would be helpful if you could ring the school office before 4.00pm so we are able to pass the message on to the class teacher. If your child’s academic progress is being affected by their attendance, staff will be highlighting this as an issue at Parents’ Evening. On Saturday 31st January we had our first Family Art Due to Parents’ Evening: Book Club and and Literacy Day in partnership with Extended Schools. Wind Band will not take place this week. We opened the event to Year 3 and Year 4 and a great day was had by all. Holiday Dates The day started with two poets performing poetry, getting everyone involved. A group poem was written and then with support from the poets, all the families wrote their own poems. Families were invited to Spring Term 2009 share their poems, if they wanted. In the afternoon, after a free lunch, Parents’ Evening: two artists supported families to produce an artistic impression of Tuesday 10th February 3.30-6.00pm & Thursday 12th February 6-9 pm. the poem they had written in the morning. The families involved all School CLOSES for half term: produced excellent poems and art work and they enjoyed the fun Thursday 12th February at 3.15pm day having quality family time together. - 2. What’s been happening PTA in Norwood... The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 4th March at 7.30pm - Southport Football Club. RECEPTION READING SESSIONS Everyone is very welcome to attend the meeting to see what goes on. Please feel free to come along.
