Norwood News Issue 4 17th September 2010 Arts Festival Countdown Menu 1 Week 40 weeks to go TERM DATES YR 3 Djembe Drumming Autumn Term 2010 Half term: Monday 25th -Friday 29th Year 3 have just started October drumming tuition with School closed: Monday 1st November Martin James from Music (Staff training day) Support Services. School closes the drums. at 2pm Summer Term 2011 One-Way System & Parking Children return to school There is an unofficial one way system in operation here in Norwood Crescent. Tuesday 19th April at 8.55am This system works extremely well for both schools and for the residents. We also find School closed: this system much safer for the children who are walking or who travel to school on Good Friday 22nd April bicycles. Cars come in at the bottom of Meols Cop Bridge and go out at the bottom of Easter Monday 25th April Roe Lane Bridge. Children return to school When parking cars, please be aware that emergency vehicles may need access to the Tuesday 26th April at 8.55am site so we must always keep the main entrance of the schools clear. We pride ourselves School closed: on the good relationships we have with our neighbours. Therefore please give Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May consideration to the residents when parking near their driveways. Half Term: Mon 30th May-Fri 3rd June On the grounds of health and safety, under no circumstance is the staff car park to be used to drop off or pick children up. This includes bringing School closed: children to the breakfast club or collecting children from after school events. - 2. Children in the Spotlight Astrid gained a merit in her Grade 1 Dancing Exam. Fantastic! Kara has passed her Stage 1 National Swimming Plan Award. Terrific! Georgia has gained a merit in her Grade 1 Piano Exam. Fabulous! Erin has passed her Level 2 Swimming Award. Wonderful! Star of the Week Shinewaves Competition Time 6C:Lucy James 6P:Elise Bond Last week’s competition was to design a logo for the Arts 6P:Nicholas Butterworth Festival. Mrs Goulden has perused the entries and the 5M:Lauren Morgan winner is Sol Wilkinson 6C. Congratulations! The winning design will be in next weeks newsletter. 5B:Jaimie Kelly 4M:Fahim Alom This week’s competition is an annual favourite - the biggest conker competition. 4M:Lucy Fraser That is it! In the event of a tie Mr Hesketh will help with his precision measuring tools. Please wait for them in the playground. 1D:Keira Bleackley 1D:James Ward School Councillors Council Elections Norwood pupils went to the polls on Thursday 16th September. Candidates wishing to stand for election had to prepare & deliver a speech to their class. (Some politicians could learn a thing or two!) The children voted secretly & the successful candidates were announced in the Star of the Week Assembly. Mrs Kenrick is looking forward to working with the new Council this year.
