- 1. Norwood 8th May 2009 NEWS Issue No.30 Term Dates Summer Term 2009 PTA Meetings: 7.30pm - Wednesday 13th May Teacher Feature This week our reporters have visited Year 4. Mrs. Phelps was the teacher in Southport Football Club the ‘hot seat’, but she wasn’t too difficult to track down- we just followed the SAT’s: Monday 11th - Friday 15th May 2009 sounds of the brass and woodwind instruments coming from her classroom. Car Boot Sale: Saturday 16th May 10am-12noon School closes for half term: Friday 22nd May at 3.15pm. Half Term: Monday 25th - Friday 29th May (inc.) Children return to school: Monday 1st June. Meeting for parents of children starting in September: 7 pm - Wednesday 3rd June. Group & Classes Photographs: 9am Thursday 4th June. Summer Fair: Saturday 20th June Taster Day: Tuesday 23rd June - Year 6 invited to spend time at their chosen High School Residential Trip to Llangollen: Monday 29th June 2009 returning Thursday 2nd July 2009 American Theme Day: Friday 3rd July School closed: Staff training day Monday 13th July. Congratulations Eleanor! classrooms each day and to decide and overall winner. Children in the Spotlight Ryan Ashall came 1st in the MX School Boys Motor Cross Race held at Bleak Hall. Lewis Harwood was awarded the “Player of the Season” at Southport Trinity. Anya Day came 3rd in a presentation competition in gymnastics for working on the beam. - 2. NEWS from around and about Norwood Cross Country SUMMER FAIR The Summer Fair is due to take place on Saturday 20th June. In preparation for this event we usually have mufti days when we allow children to come in their home clothes in return for a donation towards one of the stalls. All these donations make for a very profitable day and we know you will all be as generous as you can be. Recently a selection of Norwood pupils took part in a Cross Country event at Stanley High School. All the children that took part tried their very best and we were very happy to discover that we had been placed 6th out of the 15 schools that took part in the competition. Mrs Bentley and Mrs Kenrick were very proud of all the children that took part as they behaved superbly and supported the other members of the team too. They were fantastic representatives of Norwood! Cross Country teams: • During the week beginning the 1st June children are asked to make Year 3: Kane Baggaley, Luke Ashton, Ashley Gavan, Liam Healey, donations of soft toys such as teddies.
