Jake, a 21-year-old college student in Los Angeles, invests $30 on the crowdfunding platform 33needs to support William, a social entrepreneur from Malawi who builds windmills to provide clean energy and water. 33needs allows entrepreneurs like William to post social enterprise ideas and funding targets, and investors like Jake can invest small amounts to support those ideas in exchange for a share of future revenues. By connecting social entrepreneurs with solutions to global problems to investors around the world, 33needs aims to fund 100 million solutions through this model of using business and markets to drive social change.
