Jake is a 21-year-old college student in Los Angeles who has $30 to invest. William is a 21-year-old student from Malawi who has an idea to build windmills that provide energy and clean water across Africa. William's startup needs seed funding and has a $10,000 target on the crowdfunding site 33needs. Jake browses the site and finds William's profile, then invests his $30 to become a "Believer" investor. If William's business is successful, Jake will receive a small percentage of future revenue while also supporting William in bringing his solution to scale.
