- 1. Visual Art • The N Level Art syllabuses is aimed to help students to develop critical thinking and process skills. • Students do not only focus on art practical skills, but also required to analyze and value any artwork without prior contextual knowledge.
- 2. Examination Components for ‘N’ Level • PAPER 1 - Coursework (NA) / Portfolio (NT) (students are allowed to choose from a variety art practices such as fine art, design or media to work on a given theme ) 60% • PAPER 2 - Drawing and Painting (NA) / Art Task (NT) 40%
- 3. Art Coursework for ‘N’ (Academic) Level • Process Diary 5 A2 size mounting boards which include: • Investigation and interpretation of theme • Analytic of an artwork or illustration • Exploration and Development of Ideas • Exploration and Development of mediums or styles • Artist statement • Final Art Product

- 10. Drawing and Painting ‘O’ and ‘N’ Level: • Students are required to sit for a 3 hr paper. • Paper are given 3 weeks in advance. • Students can attempt 1 of the 6 themes given. • 5 A3 size supporting studies must be submitted. • Final artwork can be done on A3 or A2 size.

Future Relevance to Higher Education Where can you go: • Junior College • Polytechnic (Interior Architecture and Design, Product Design, Moving Images, Interactive Visual Design, Visual Communication, etc.) • Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts • LaSalle-SIA • Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and National Institute of Education (Teacher Award – MOE will not only pay you a salary but also pay your educational fee) • ITE ( Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising, Nitec in Digital Animation, Nitec in Fashion Apparel Production & Design, Nitec in Interactive Media Design, Nitec in Product Design, Nitec in Space Design etc)

Entry Criteria for Art elective students: • You must attain 70% and above in the art subject for EOY exam • Your overall result for the end-of-year examination must be good. • Those who did not attain 70% and above in the EOY exam must sit for aptitude test to confirm their placement in streaming.
