This study examined the effects of using question prompts and peer interactions to scaffold undergraduate students' problem-solving abilities in ill-structured tasks. A quasi-experimental study found that question prompts had a significantly positive impact on student problem-solving performance, while peer interactions did not show significant effects. However, qualitative findings indicated some positive effects of peer interactions in facilitating cognitive thinking and metacognitive skills. The study suggests that peer interactions must be guided with strategies like question prompts to maximize benefits.
