This paper reviews various low power wide area (LPWA) technologies used in licensed and unlicensed spectrums, including Sigfox, LoRa, NB-IoT, and LTE-M, highlighting their technical features and deployment aspects. It addresses challenges in standardization and the need for interoperability in IoT applications while providing insights into how to match specific IoT requirements with proper technology platforms. The analysis serves as a guideline for selecting the appropriate connectivity features tailored to diverse IoT use cases.
