A study examined the relationships between e-conferencing tools and effective pedagogical practices. The study aimed to identify practices proven to engage students online and determine if some e-conferencing uses should be avoided. E-conferencing tools typically include features like text chat, audio communication, polling, application sharing, whiteboarding, content sharing, virtual breakout rooms, and session recording. The study surveyed 23 instructors on their use of these tools to identify relationships between specific tools and sound instructional design.
