Who are we?
 ACOG, the Association of Central Oklahoma
Governments is an association of cities, towns and
counties in the Central Oklahoma area.

 ACOG works on mobility, public safety and quality of
life issues that impact the region.
COGs
 ACOG is a “council of governments,” or “COG” aka: regional
    council, planning association, substate agency.

 There are 11 COGS in the state. Each varies
slightly, depending on the makeup of their constituencies.
Economic Development District
    (EDD)
 For some member cities
    and counties to be eligible
    for EDA funding, Central
    Oklahoma needs to
    become an Economic
    Development District.
 ACOG is the only COG in
    the state of Oklahoma that
    is not (currently)
    designated an EDD.
About U.S. EDA:
 Economic Development Administration
    operates under U.S. Department of
    Commerce.

 EDA’s mission: To lead the federal economic
    development agenda by promoting innovation
    and competetiveness, preparing American
regions for growth and success in the
    worldwide economy.
Comprehensive Economic Development
Strategy: CEDS

 A CEDS plan is regional
 Comprehensive
 Conduit for data analysis
 Serves as a platform to coordinate economic
    development activities
 Helps communities become eligible for EDA
    funding.
EDA Investment Priorities
1. Collaborative Regional Innovation
2. Public/Private Partnerships
3. National Strategic Priorities
4. Global Competitiveness
5. Environmentally-Sustainable Development
6. Economically Distressed and Underserved
     Communities
