This document summarizes a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of a small horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) using commercial CFD software. The study models a 3 kW HAWT with three blades using a blade element momentum theory approach. CFD simulations are conducted over a range of wind speeds and tip speed ratios to analyze torque, force, and power output. Flow field characteristics around different blade sections are also studied. The results from the CFD simulations provide insight into the aerodynamic performance of the small HAWT design.
