VM 1 and VM 2 represent virtual machines running on separate physical hosts. The document describes live migration of a virtual machine (VM 1) from one physical host (Host 1) to another (Host 2) with minimal downtime. This is accomplished by first copying memory pages over the network from Host 1 to Host 2. Then the storage connectivity is moved and the virtual machine is paused on Host 1. Finally, the virtual machine resumes running on Host 2 while being deleted from Host 1.
