Jonas faced the adversity of understanding war and death which others did not in his controlled society, and deciding whether to stay or leave with Gabrielle. He overcame this by gaining forbidden knowledge from the Giver and escaping the society. Rose faced thinking her family would not survive on a sinking ship. She acted quickly to get on a lifeboat with her children. Jimmy faced being a bank robber but overcame it by marrying the daughter of a bank owner he had robbed.

- 2. The main adversity Jonas had to deal with was the burden of knowing things no one else understood such as war and death. Also,he was trying to figure out if he should stay with the community and his family living a shallow life or should he run away where he could live a full life with Gabrielle.
- 3. Jonas overcame this adversity by gaining knowledge from the Giver and being able to break away from the controlled society that he knew.
- 4. The main adversity Rose had to deal with was thinking that her and her family were not going to make it off the ship alive.
- 5. She overcame this adversity by quickly getting to the main deck with her children, and safely being put on a life boat.
- 6. Jimmy's adversity was being a professional bank robber.
- 7. Jimmy over comes this adversity by later marring the banks owners daughter.
- 8. My final conclusion is that even thought each character had a problem they ALL found a solution the ultimately change the life's path.
