ANALYSIS AND REFLECTION ON CAD/CAM.
Computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing i.e. the use of the
computer software for the designing of materials and then produce them out with the
help of a CNC machine depending on the type of environment the material will be
exposed to. Basically before a material can finally be produced the purpose of the
material and the environment which is going to be exposed to are very important. So
the machine can be produced the material out in the form of aluminium, wood, ABS
plastics and so on. Most of the car parts can also be designed with the help of the
computer aided design and then test the car part with a simulation and this would tell
how the car body part perform in terms of aerodynamic and also if the air travelling
around the part would form a lot of swirling wind or vortex around its boundary layer
or is just going to produce a streamlined air.
The area I find most interesting is the designing part because this will make me
thinks of the appropriate materials to be used for the design, several methods that
could be applied in designing, then also will have to think about the production by
giving the material the right size and not to waste a lot of the materials. Among all
this, the challenging part is having the right tool drive for the production as different
teeth shape might be required for the production in the CNC Machine and the cost of
each drive tool. Computer aided design has giving me the knowledge that virtually
everything can be designed first before they are finally been produced.
CAD/CAM has helped lots of manufacturing industries for example, car
manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing industries and lots more to know how
materials would react or behave before proceeding into the final production of such
materials which has made this an added advantage for them to use the computer
aided machine and computer aided design and it will save them more money.

  • 1. ANALYSIS AND REFLECTION ON CAD/CAM. Computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing i.e. the use of the computer software for the designing of materials and then produce them out with the help of a CNC machine depending on the type of environment the material will be exposed to.
