2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
• My magazine mostly represents teenagers and young adults
The images include teenagers, mostly female, and young artists are featured in
the contents
• There is no sub culture represented in my magazine
Sub cultures such as goths/emos aren’t usually fans of pop music
• My magazine includes images of different races
• The people featured in the images are all of a similar age, however I have
used other things to show the age group that my magazine is aimed at
• The main images are of females to show the gender of the target audience

• I have used artists with a younger fan base to appeal to 11 – 14 year olds
• I have advertised things such as festivals to show that 15 – 18 year olds will
also enjoy the magazine

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and
why?
I think a media institution such as IPC Media would be an appropriate choice of
publisher for my magazine. This is because it already publishes some music magazines:
• NME
• Uncut
This means IPC Media has experience in
targeting an audience for a music magazine,
but the only musical sub genres it publishes
are Rock and Indie.
Therefore IPC Media would be a good
publisher for my magazine as there is room for
it to publish a Pop magazine, like mine,
without creating competition for itself.

IPC Media also publishes a wide range of other magazines which shows that it is a
successful publisher.

4. Who would the audience be for your media product?
The target audience for my magazine would
mainly be female teenagers and children, aged
around 11 – 18.
I have used bright, stereotypically girly colours to
attract the target audience to the magazine.
They would be of a middle to upper middle
class, so that they are able to afford the
magazine and other things such as music
festivals, concerts and artist merchandise.
I have advertised things like this on my cover
and contents page.
4. Who would the audience be for your media product?
Fans of my magazine can be of any ethnicity, as
I have mentioned popular artists such as One
Direction and Justin Bieber, who have a large
fanbase with a variety of ethnicities.
They also have a majority of female children
and teenagers in their fanbases, which relates
to my target audience.

• Pop music
• Festivals and concerts
• Fashion and makeup
• Disney channel
• Romantic and comedy films

5. How did you attract/address your audience?
I used things such as bright, eye-catching
colours to attract people to the magazine.
Pink is usually referred to as a girly colour so I
used a variety of pink shades to appeal to my
female target audience.

contents page is of a
teenage girl, similar to my
target audience, so it is
relatable to the readers.
All of the coverlines relate to music, showing
that it is a music magazine
The title ‘POP’ shows that it is directed at

The most important things I learned on InDesign
were:
• How to use a column format for the text
• How to wrap the text around an image or
other text.
The most important things I learned on Photoshop
were:
• How to remove the background from an image
• How to use a colour behind an image

7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in
the progression from it to the full product?
• When making the front cover, I had to adapt it to appeal to my particular target
audience
• This includes any sub cultures and a specific music genre, rather than just students
in general
• I also learned how to show that it is a
music magazine by using things such as
props
• I used this on my contents page with
images of someone in a recording
studio and someone using drums

• I had to show who the magazine was
aimed at through the use of fonts, colours
and images
• I used pink to show that it was mainly
aimed at females, whereas on the
preliminary magazine I didn’t have to
