client partners with IBM to set
up a digital twin in the cloud
IBM is helping the client, who is a leading Travel and
Transportation provider in DACH, to set up an IoT Platform in
the Cloud based on the AWS IoT Platform. The goal of the overall
project is to create a digital representation of the group's
operational ecosystem and to enable data-driven use cases.
IBM's areas of responsibility includes the design and
implementation of highly available and hyper-scalable data
engineering pipelines. These pipelines receive the sensor data
stream originating from the assets, homogenize it and enrich it
with context, e.g. from various enterprise or geofencing
systems. Subsequently, the data is made available to operational
systems in near real-time. The implementation is based on
Amazon Web Services, taking into account common AWS
reference architectures for Serverless IoT and Big Data solutions
as well as the AWS Well Architected Framework.
The successful go-live of data pipelines for several asset groups
on the platform was achieved. By applying DevOps concepts, the
productive operation of the platform can be managed parallel to
its further development. For example, by abstracting individual
components of the data pipelines in a context-independent
manner, the data platform could be extended to an application

#42:Speaker Notes |
Fact is that we have only scraped the surface of converting the majority of our highly variable and complex documents to a machine-readable format, such that too many of our processes still depend on human data extraction, with all its shortcomings of limited capacity and human errors. In fact the processes that require extraction from our most valuable knowledge workers are least accessible.
In short, this means, execution of your digital strategy may lack the most valuable data inputs at scale
Institutional knowledge of how an SME extracts actionable insight from documents remains uncaptured and subject to loss
Processes remain stubbornly unchanged due to the bottlenecks of manual document handling and your organization ins increasingly exposed to audit risk as larger and larger expected sample sizes become the new reasonable person standard.

#75:Transformation is constant
The Virtual Enterprise: https://www.ibm.com/thought-leadership/institute-business-value/report/virtual-enterprise
The Virtual Enterprise is emerging, supported by a “Golden Thread” of value that animates the enterprise and binds ecosystem participants.
Technology continues transforming the business models of enterprises across the globe, creating new opportunities for growth along with fresh benchmarks of cost and efficiency. The ability to apply AI, automation, blockchain, the Internet of Things, 5G, cloud, and quantum computing at scale has made the promise of Virtual Enterprises real.
We provide IoT professional advisory services and solutions based on these principles, focused on Open Innovation, bringing in the right talent, industry expertise and experience from across our ecosystem to help our clients achieve digital business transformation powered by data from the connected “physical” world – from the enterprise to the factory floor to the filed (quite literally, e.g. the top of Network towers).

“Connect” environments by joining systems and processes together to provide access and communication needed to monitor, manage and resolve business issues
Support and drive “Edge” adoption; where the Internet of Things (IoTs) and people connect and converge with their digital world
Connected Edge Solutions allows “smart” devices to provide new insights and when combined with existing or legacy data, allows for a more holistic view of an environment. In doing so, organizations can more rapidly prototype, test and resolve problems (both proactively and reactively). And via AI they also have the ability to continuously learn and improve, leading to ongoing cost saving and the reduction of business risks, specifically risks to people, processes and things.
