Kirkleatham Museum in North Yorkshire underwent a strategic shift in 2010-2011 in response to budget cuts by the local council. They used the process of developing their forward plan for Accreditation to help transform their services and raise their profile within the council. The plan helped maximize the use of collections, forge new partnerships, and make the museum more relevant and affordable. As a result, the museum profile was raised internally and externally. The council now sees the museum as helping to deliver their priorities.
