ASSURE Method Assignment

Analyze Learners: Teaching Holiday traditions to 4thgraders. There are 20 students 11 girls, and
9 boys. There are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
State Objectives: The 4th grade students will compare and contrast their own holiday traditions
as well as the other students’ in the class via posters and afour minute group
oral and visual presentations of materiallearned from teacher presentation,
individual student experience, online search engines, traditional music, games,
after three days of instruction with 95% accuracy.
Select Methods/Materials/Media:
Methods: Teacher will present students with false assumptions of different holiday
traditions. Students will then confirm or correct teacher.
Materials: Existing materials can be used: books, student experience, traditional
holiday music and games, images,and search engines
Media: Information will be presented via pictures on smart board, PowerPoint, as
well as student commentary.
Utilize Media and Material:Teacher will preview and prepare materials prior to instruction.
Teacher will then prepare students for the for the three day instruction of
holidays with an outline of what will be done each day and what they will be
expected to produce at the end of instruction.
Require Learner Participation: Students will be key in instructing their peers in their own
holiday traditions. Students will be required to produce their own presentation
materials on the last day of instruction. During lessons, the teacher will play
traditional holiday music and elicit feedback about the music: thoughts, likes,
dislikes, etc.
Evaluate and Revise: Teacher will assess students learning by the evaluation of presentations
and posters. During instruction of lesson, the teacher will ask the student to tell
what they have learned about the holidays and if more/different material should
be utilized in the future.
