ASSURE Method Assignment
A-Analyze the Learners:
• My students consist of a group of ages 10 to 19, 15 in total 8 males and 7 females. They are all
mildly to severe vision impaired.
S- State the Objective:
• Audience: -My students
• Behavior: -Teaching Activities of the fourth of July to Russian students that just arrived to the
United States
• Conditions: -In five days
• Degree: -At 95% accuracy
S- Select the Method, Media, and Materials:
• Method: -A large group lecture and hands on class assignments. Use as many sounds and hands
on demonstrations and resources as possible.
• Media: -Media used would all be based on what they can hear and feel. There may be language
barriers so some of these materials may need to be translated.
• Materials:-I will use every material possible to use all other senses other than sight. Materials
they can hear, feel, smell, and touch. For the students will mild visual impairments arrangements will be
made to show visuals that pertain to the celebration of the fourth of July.
U-Utilize the Media and Materials
• I will have to make sure there is no time wasted. Arrangements will be made to make sure that
all materials are ready at the beginning of the class. All media and materials will be concrete examples of
the celebration of the fourth of July. Because the students are mildly to severely vision impaired all
materials will be hands on or something that can be heard. The fact that they are new to the united
states means that the examples must be unifying examples that anyone from any region or culture could
understand. This will be difficult since it is a national holiday not celebrated in other parts of the world.
However believe there are celebrations they may be familiar with that could be related to the
celebration of the fourth of July.
R-Require Learner Participation
• For this lesson it will be imperative that the students participate. They is no chance of an
understanding of this celebration without their participation. I think as long as I am relating the material
in a concrete and straightforward way there is no reason why there should be any lack of participation.
E-Evaluate and Revise
• The evaluation will have to be simple and direct. The main point of the lesson is to insure that
the students understand the celebration of the fourth of July. They will need to demonstrate by
whatever means that pertain to them that they understand the history and point behind the Fourth of
July celebration.
