Motivation: Food under global pressure (population growth, water, climate, biofuels) Poverty under global rise, also in Europe and extreme inequalities in weak economies (Greece)  Development is difficult from Greenland to Fyn to Slovakia to Uganda
Quantitative approach proved impossible: Poverty levels  disputed Impossible to determine if production is up or down Illegal channels and processed foods difficult to estimate
Profiling versus Cuba and Brazil was interesting but: Data was not recent enough Data was not equivalent Perhaps worth the trouble at Masters/PhD level
Venezuelan factors: Oil Feudalism/Oppresion/Barbarity Lack of Infrastructure commerce/governance/production/education “ Demanding” Geography, almost different countries
Extremely unstable economic context: Oil down 75% in a month Imported goods affected by unpredictable dollar black market Domestic goods subject to hoarding, smuggling, neglect
