This document outlines a protocol for examining student work called ATLAS (Assessment to Promote Learning in Student-Centered Classrooms). The protocol is designed to guide teachers in analyzing student work to better understand students' thinking and learning. It involves teachers bringing student work to discuss without identifying information. Teachers describe the work, interpret what the student was working on, discuss implications for teaching and assessing that student and others, and reflect on what was learned about the student, colleagues, and themselves. The goal is to gain insights that can improve instructional practices.
