The purpose of having a poster is a way of promoting the film as
well as to attract their target audience to go and watch the film at
the cinema. Posters are displayed at.
• Billboards
• Bus-stop {advertisement board}
• Cinemas
• Social media websites {e.g. Facebook or Twitter}
There are many ways to display posters however, These are very
common ones.
Target Audience.
ATB target audience is 15-26 years old. It is aimed at this
exact age range because the audience feel they can relate to
the characters from the movie since they’re roughly the
same age. {15-26}. This also makes it intriguing to the
audience.
Demographics
The film’s genre is a hybrid of comedy and sci-fi to target two
type of audience.
Appeals to the mainstream audience by making it comedy but
also had targeted youths by making it Urban.
This movie was only not made for A-C1 group but also E group
because people from E group come from A-C1 groups.
Targeted Nick Frosty fans, comedy fans and sci-fi fans.
Having different ethnicities {black , white, mix-race} characters
to appeal to the audience
The poster appeals to
the audience because
without the need to
watch the trailer, they
can already see what
genre it is by the falling
asteroids suggestions
that it is a sci-fi based
film.
The tagline “INNER CITY VS OUTER SPACE” is catchy however it is also two different
places {earth} and {outer earth} combining the two makes it good because it brings
sci-fi and comedy. ‘’Inner City’’ tells that it is set in the city. By having this saying it will
target audience that like movies set in cities. “VS” suggestions that there's going to be
frightening and “Outer space” tells us that something is going to be coming to earth
to attack the city.
The dominant use of the
saturated colour of blue
in this poster gives the
piece a rather mystical
tone, which in turn,
reflects the urban sci-fi
genre of the film. This
brings the youth
audience who love to
watch urban movies.
The kids also appeals
the youth audience
because they’re
carrying weapons and
dressed in urban
clothing. The
audience may feel
they can relate to the
kids situations
The young adults characters are there in the poster to
relate to wide range of an audience such as the older
generation to grab their attention. These specific
characters appeal to precise audience for example the
woman appeals to middle-class working women’s, age
between 21-30 years old. By using this woman in the
film it helps to gain more audience and their attention
because they might feel they can relate to the woman.
The man appeals to the middle age male {21-30}
audience yet again to help widen the audience.
Including these two type of characters help to broaden
the audience appealing to the outside of the main
target.
The Kids have been constructed to appeal to
their audience by the way they’re dressed. The
boy’s outfits are similar to the way young people
dress these days, The dress code appeals to the
audience making them feel they’re involved in
the movie or they can relate to it. Because of the
way the characters are dressed young people are
most likely to watch it. Furthermore, from the
way the characters standing suggestions that
they’re unity (Gang) that is ready to fight
whatever comes there way, this will appeal to
the young audience as most of them seem to
show themself as hard-core, not afraid of
anything thrown at them and most youngest
hang out in groups. Also there is combination of
ethnicities . These days they’re many people are
from different ethnicities. By having these
mixture of people a lot of audience will feel like
they can relate to characterise.
The props used in the poster
are bike and a samurai sword,
The bike seems to be a main
element because a lot of
young people use bikes to get
around. A lot of audience feel
they can relate to the props
used.
The iconic building
{tower 42} and {the
gherkin} are
representative of
London, this will
appeal to the audience
that look movies set in
London or cities. This
is also a secondary
image.
The block {Primary image} tells
us that the movie is set in a
council estate building, This will
attract the audience as many
young people live in estate
buildings and hang around it.
This is appealing to the audience
as the majority of us like to
know where the film is set and it
would intrigue us to watch it.
This is movie also lets people
who live in London relate to it.
Use of low angel shots, this helps to
make the block look more menacing
this make it appealing to the audience
because it makes them wonder “what
has these kids done?, why does
the building look scary?” This
makes them want to watch it and find
out more.
They had included „From the producers of
Shaun of the Dead‟ because people who loved
“Shaun of the dead” might end up liking
“attack the block” both films were produced
by the same people, this is good way to get
audience because people they‟re targeting
more than their audience by targeting Shaun
of the dead audience as well. Also the actor
who was in Shaun of the dead also appears in
this film give the movie that stoner comedy.
The promotional methods
used are at the bottom of
the poster is their
Facebook page, they use a
Facebook page because the
target audience use social
media website like
Facebook. The target
audience can leave their
feedbacks.
