This document analyzes the target audiences of three hip hop magazines: Vibe magazine, which was first released in 1993 and appeals to a mostly male but unisex audience aged 16-24; XXL magazine, released in 1997 and targeting black males aged 16-24; and The Source, launched in 1988 and aimed at a mostly male but unisex audience aged 16-24 globally. All three magazines became popular in the US and internationally by featuring new up-and-coming rappers and recently released songs.
