This document summarizes an educational technology course that was redesigned to incorporate scenario-based online learning to better engage and motivate pre-service teachers. The original course design used a traditional online format with weekly modules, assignments, and discussion boards. The instructor attended a conference and revised the course using a scenario where students took on roles as newly hired teachers tasked with improving technology use. The new design incorporated collaborative projects and used a scenario framework to make assignments more stimulating. Student feedback indicated the revised design better engaged them and was more interesting compared to the previous traditional online format.
