An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines the rules for responsible computer use and obtaining permission to publish student work online. AUPs ensure student safety by only using first names without pictures on student websites that are moderated by teachers. Publishing student work gives students a voice, lets others see their work, and allows students to get feedback and share with family. The AUP form requires parent permission for a student's written work, photos, voice, and videos to appear on classroom websites or podcasts published on the web.

- 1. What is an AUP? AUP is for Acceptable Use Policy It helps make sure that computers are used responsibly.
- 2. Permission forms… AUPs also include permission forms We will make this as safe as possible for your child No full names (first name only) No names with pictures All student sites are moderated by the teacher
- 3. Why publish student work? It gives student a voice; It lets other students in the school, and the world see their work; They get feedback from peers about their work, including peers around the world; They can share their work with you and other family members; They can see their work after they leave here.

Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)/Permission to Publish on the Internet 2007-2008 Oak Ridge Elementary, SCUSD District policy requires that all students using computers to access the Internet sign an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). This is just a list of rules for how to use computers, permission from parents and guardians for students to use the Internet and publish their work their, and an agreement to follow all rules and procedures for computer use in our school and district. Please check each of the boxes and sign below. I give permission for my child’s written and visual work to appear on school/class Websites. I give permission for my child’s picture to appear on school/class Websites. I give permission for my child’s voice to be used in school/class podcasts (audio recordings) that are published on the Web. I give permission for video images of my child to be published on the Web.
