The document describes a study comparing different control strategies for automatic generation control (AGC) of a two-area interconnected power system, including consideration of generation rate constraints (GRC). A hybrid neuro-fuzzy (HNF) controller is proposed and its performance is evaluated against conventional proportional-integral (PI) and fuzzy logic controllers (FLC). Simulation results show the HNF controller provides better damping performance for frequency deviation and tie-line power compared to the other controllers, both with and without GRCs considered. The HNF controller is also robust to system non-linearities like GRCs.
