AWS Shield Advanced now automatically mitigates application-layer DDoS attacks. It protects internet-facing applications and platforms like EC2, ELB, AWS Global Accelerator, Route 53, and CloudFront from attacks. The latest announcement adds automatic application-layer DDoS mitigation to Shield Advanced, blocking application traffic if needed. This helps avoid potential DDoS attacks with no manual intervention by identifying Layer 7 patterns and isolating anomalous traffic through custom WAF rules.
