The webinar discussed engaging seniors in technology. It provided tips for different levels of senior engagement across various settings like aged care homes, libraries, and community centers. The presenter discussed enticing reluctant learners and using non-computer activities like games. Tips were given for making learning easier like limiting information, including repetition, and ensuring a comfortable learning environment. - 7. Enticing the reluctant learner Have you come across a reluctant senior? – Reluctant to use technology? What sort of things do they say for their reason of not participating?
- 8. Do they have to engage? “There are a lot of seniors in our community who have no interest at all in using computers. Some of them say they just don’t trust them. Others can’t be bothered and would rather involve themselves in other activities that have more personal contact with others. I can understand this very well. I guess we are all different and if older people have activities in their lives that they are comfortable with and they are happy, who has the right to denigrate that or to try and find reasons why they don’t want to use computers? - #20: I visited a kiosk recently and Cathy described a great event where a resident with dementia who didn't speak responded with "That is the pub where I used to drink" when they showed Google earth images of his hometown in Scotland. The group have used Google earth quite a bit to connect residents with a sense of place - past and present.

- #22: What are some issues with handout notes? – Websites change – so outdate quickly cost of printing Focus on the notes and not looking for the logical option on the screen Is your BFS computer connected to a printer? It is possible – up to your organisations and the 1300 number for BFS can help you connect it.
