Tabulation is the process of organizing data into a table with rows and columns for easy statistical processing, presentation, and interpretation. There are several objectives and benefits to tabulating data, including to carry out investigations, make comparisons, locate errors, use space efficiently, and study trends. There are three main methods of tabulation: simple, double, and complex. Simple tabulation uses one characteristic, double uses two characteristics, and complex tabulates data using more than two characteristics, arranged into rows and columns.
