This document discusses different block diagram representations of digital transfer functions including direct form I, direct form II, cascade form, and parallel form realizations. The cascade form realization expresses the transfer function as a product of lower order sub-functions realized in direct form II and connected in series. The parallel form realization decomposes the transfer function using partial fraction expansion and connects the sub-functions in parallel. Examples of block diagram representations are provided to illustrate direct form I, direct form II, cascade form, and parallel form realizations.
