Congratulations! Now you are the proud owner of a blog. But before you post, fix your settings so that your blog is secure.
Setting Your Settings Not so much fun, but important! That’s personal and totally up to you if you are the author. If a student is the author, his profile should be protected. How public do you want your profile? Sometimes several teachers write one blog together. If your students have email accounts you can allow them to become authors. Will others be able to author? No, you probably don’t want it to be searchable. Do you want it to be searchable? Most school blogs are private Will it be public or private?
Click on settings and you will see the page below. You can change the the Title and Description later. Change this from Yes to No . Leave these alone, scroll down and hit If this is left as Yes it becomes searchable through the Google search engine.
After you you will see, “Settings Were Saved Successfully”. Now go to Permissions. The first box is ‘Blog Authors’. If you are the only author you will not do anything here. If there are other authors to be added click on Add Authors button, and you will be prompted to enter their email addresses.
Who are you going to allow to read your blog? Click on the radio button with which you are comfortable. (I allow Anybody to read my blog.)
If you want to restrict who can see this site then you might want to change to this button. Click This! Then you would have to enter email addresses for everyone you want to invite. Note: I allow Anybody to view my blog. Remember they can not find it by searching for it. I probably invited them to look at it or they are one of my students.
Click on the Dashboard link in the upper right-hand corner. Click on Edit Profile link beside the picture.
Un check this! Do not add anything to this page, just scroll down and… - - - - - - - - - - This will show up, and if you click on the (View Updated Profile) you will see this… . This page should be followed if you have a student authoring a blog. As an adult, you can decide whether you want your profile to be public or not.
Are you ready to post? Well follow these directions to activate your account. Go to the e-mail account you used when you registered and open the “ accounts-noreply@google” message.
