- 1. Since coming to University..... By Chloe, Becca, Gabby, Roshni
- 2. When I arrived at Uni… Well, firstly the university is really big and so it was a bit daunting at first. However, now we have familiarised ourselves and we don’t get lost as much! One of the best things about starting university was getting to meet so many different people, and making so many lifelong friends, I really think this is something that will stay in our hearts forever.
- 3. Academic side We as a group are really enjoying the experience of University. We have been given the chance to take part in many interesting practicals, such as: Microscopy, anatomy, excretion of a drug in the blood, electrophoresis. We have an I.T practical once a week and have found this extremely useful.
- 4. This is a bit random but we had to put it in… So here we go. The difference between a GIF JPEG and WMF file which I am sure you will all be interested to know. GIF- stands for graphics interchange format. It compresses the image to make it smaller, taking care not to lose any of the data. JPEG- stands for Joint Photographic Experts group. Rather than compressing the image, it discards unnecessary pieces of the image, meaning the photo has a lesser quality, but is a more convenient way of saving images. WMF – stands for windows metafile. They are generally are used to store line-art, illustrations and content created in drawing or presentation applications.
- 5. Leeds as a city… Leeds is a brilliant city to live in with so much going on. The nightlife is amazing, with student deals on every night for cheap drinks!!! There are lots of great places to eat, our favourite is Nandos as it is cheap and cheerful!
- 6. Shopping! There are shops to cater for everyones style. Our favourite is Topshop, there are two and one of them has three floors, it is amazing! If you like Vintage, we suggest you try Blue rinse. There are also loads of designer shops if you feel like spending all of your student loan in one go! Most of the shops give you student discount if you use your student card.
- 7. The Union The union has been given an award for being the biggest student union in the country. It has a wide range of venues to suit your mood, so you can party the night away in mine, stylus or pulse or during the day you can relax with a nice drink in the Terrace or old bar. It even has a mini supermarket. There is a Job centre where you are given help with finding a job.
- 8. Freshers Week The union holds many different events for you to make the most out of your freshers week. The Freshers ball is a must and an excuse to get all dressed up. It is a great chance to meet people, and you are given loads of free stuff. Do not miss out on the society fare, where you can try new things. The University holds a few induction classes for your course, where you are given the chance to meet people that you will be studying with for the next three years! They also hold tours for you to familiarise yourself with the University Facilities.
