Introduction to CAD Modelling
CAD Modelling revolutionizes the design process by using software to create
virtual 3D models, enabling efficient visualization and collaboration.
Computer-aided design (CAD) is a technology that allows designers to create,
modify and analyze 2D & 3D models of products using computer software. CAD
software can help designers test, refine and manipulate virtual products before
production, ensuring quality and accuracy for production. CAD modeling is the
process of creating these high-quality 3D designs that are identical in dimension
and detail to the desired finished product .
If someone is interested in learning more about CAD software, Autodesk offers a
range of 2D & 3D CAD software products that can help you draft construction
documentation, explore design ideas, visualize concepts through photorealistic
renderings and simulate how a design performs in the real world. ANDESIGN also
offers CAD modeling services for 3D printing, prototyping, photo-realistic
rendering and more.

AUTOCAD
AutoCAD is a 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software application for desktop, web, and mobile developed by Autodesk.
It was first released in December 1982 for the CP/M and IBM PC platforms as a desktop app running on microcomputers with
internal graphics controllers. Initially a DOS application, subsequent versions were later released for other platforms including
Classic Mac OS (1992), Microsoft Windows (1992), web browsers (2010), iOS (2010), macOS (2010), and Android (2011).
AutoCAD is a general drafting and design application used in industry by architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers,
city planners and other professionals to prepare technical drawings.
AutoCAD's native file formats are denoted either by a .dwg, .dwt, .dws, or .dxf filename extension.
The system requirements for AutoCAD depend on the version of the software you are using. According to the official Autodesk
website, the following are the system requirements for the latest version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD 2024:
Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit only.)
Processor: 64-bit; Intel or AMD.
RAM: 8 GB as a minimum, with 16GB being recommended.
Graphics Card: A dedicated graphics card that has been officially certified.
Storage: 7 GB of free disk space for installation.

Solidworks
SolidWorks (stylized as SOLIDWORKS) is a brand within Dassault Systèmes that develops and markets solid modeling computer-
aided design, computer-aided engineering, 3D CAD design and collaboration, analysis and product data management software.
The SolidWorks brand was founded as Winchester Design Systems by Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate Jon Hirschtick
on December 30, 1993. Jon and cofounders Dr. Constantine Dokos, Scott Harris, Bob Zuffante, Mike Payne and Tommy Li aimed to
create 3D design software that was affordable, easy to use, and available on a Windows NT personal computer.
SolidWorks developed the world's first 3D CAD solution that ran on a desktop PC. They had a simple mission statement of "3D on
every engineer's desktop”.
The system requirements for SolidWorks depend on the version of the software you are using. According to the official SolidWorks
website, the following are the system requirements for the latest version of SolidWorks, SolidWorks 2024 :
Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit only).
Processor: 64-bit; Intel or AMD.
RAM: 16GB or more.
Graphics Card: A dedicated graphics card that has been officially certified.
Storage: An SSD is recommended for optimal performance.
