For more information, please visit www.rolta.com Industry: Utilities Location: Qatar, Doha Summary Qatar's Public Works Authority, Ashghal, is a federal government agency, responsible specifically for the road, sanitary sewer, treated effluent, and storm sewer systems in Qatar. The authority also co-ordinates the annual application process for infrastructure capital budgets. Due to the country’s accelerated growth in recent years, various electronic media (email, CAD files etc.) were introduced, making it increasingly difficult to handle the accumulating application materials which were generated at every step of the process. This type of a finance related process typically relies on a series of forms and workflow protocols. Rolta highlighted the advantages to be gained by including GIS technology in the process, and built a solution with SharePoint, and OnPoint™. Details of Rolta’s solution Rolta prepared workflows, reports, forms, etc. within a SharePoint portal, and added to this a spatial component, which allowed the entry of project extents, and recognized benefits gained through the co-ordination of projects with overlapping extents.
