Westbrook Middle School
Project-Based Learning is simple learning
  through projects. PBL is focus on students-
  centered activity to learn through
  experiences. Teachers are there to scaffold
  the students by guiding and support them.

   How I will use PBL in my classroom is by
    students-centered projects, focusing on
    teaching them how to learn through
    experiences with projects.
Essential Question: What is being healthy?

Unit Question: How does exercising relate
  to lifelong skills?

Content Question: How can staying active
 be fun?
Lesson Plan: 8th grade Physical Education:
  (16) Design a personalized fitness plan

Standards: Students will design a
  personalize fitness schedule.

Objective: Students will research and learn
 how to stay healthy by staying physically
 fit and eating right as well as how to
 create a physical fitness plan.
Students will be given 3 weeks to learn and
  research information on a physical fitness
  plan and will design a personalize fitness
  schedule for senior citizens. Students will
  create a PowerPoint presentation as well as
  provide information to the class as well as a
  senior citizen they are assign too. The
  project should include health related
  information on staying physically fit with a
  nutrient diet and physical activity exercises
  to do.
Students will have more knowledge of how
  to stay health through exercises and
  eating right. Also having the opportunity
  to get involve with their community by
  designing a physical fitness schedule for
  a senior citizen.
   Role of teacher: Get students time in the library
    to work on their project. If needed, guide
    students throughout the project with answering
    questions and helping them design a
    PowerPoint. Get a community senior citizen
    program to help with the project and assign a
    student with a senior citizen.
   Role of student: Research information on
    staying healthy for a senior citizen by get
    information on exercises as well as diets to stay
    healthy. Create a personalize physical fitness
    schedule for a senior citizen to follow for 3
    weeks. Put information on a PowerPoint and
    present information in front of class.
   Role of parent: Make sure students are working
    on their project outside of class as well as
    meeting with a senior citizen from their
    community. Help student with project.
