INTRODUCTION
The living organism react with their environments and they bear full
impression of the environments in which they grow. In order to
withstand adverse conditions of the environment and utilize to their
maximum benefit the nutrient and other condition prevailing
therein, the organisms develop certain morphological, anatomical,
physiological and reproductive features. any feature of an organism
or its part which enables it to exist under conditions of its habitat is
called adoption. Every organism develops certain adaptations and so
does the population or a community.
This project shed a new light on my life, opening my eyes to watch in
a difference perspective
The completion of life cycle of an organism or stabilization of a
community results through a series of adoptions which have survival
value, adoption of survival value comprise such features as prevent
destruction of vital vegetative tissues and help in large production
and efficient dissemination of reproductive bodies. Warming had
realized for the first time the influence of controlling or limiting
factors upon the vegetation in ecology.
This was the best project I had ever done that brought me closer to
nature. the entire process of evolution of a plant, as it develops from
a seed into a tiny sapling, and eventually grows to become a tree is
like watching the different aspects of life first-hand. this also makes
us realize that plants and trees are living beings too and share a life
just as we do.
The fact that by simply planting a seed into the soil, are paving the
existence for a new being and giving life to it is simply amazing - a
2
fact that is often ignored. this makes us more caring, calm, and a
better mental health which is often proved by many kinds of
research.
“WE KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF A PLANT, EVEN THOUGH WE
IGNORE IT.”
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND CAUSE OF THE
PROBLEM.
The problem may be simply defined as deforestation. Deforestation:
“It is simply defined as cutting down trees and plants, destroying
forests”.
As we know deforestation will be a curse for the future generations.
the sign that warns us are natural disasters such as floods, tsunami,
drought, it also affects the ground water table. growing a plant is a
great activity and is a sign of goodness. destroying forests to develop
will unknowingly destroy rare medicinal plants and loss in the habitat
of many species which lead them to enter our region and disturb our
habitat which is harmful to either of us.
MAJOR CAUSES OF DEFORESTATION
➢ The first reason is agriculture. Due to the rapid growth in the
population, the production of food is required which leads to
the growth of food industries and many businesses, these
3
industries buy lands for which are majorly forest lands which
leads to deforestation.
➢ The second major cause is the construction of buildings,
houses, roads, etc. many existing agricultural lands are turned
into arable lands. these arable lands are given for either
development or the construction of houses. the major way of
transport is by road which is crucial and these roads are laid by
cutting down the trees in many regions.
➢ The third reason is urbanization which causes people to move
from rural areas to urban areas for a better standard of living
which needs houses to live this problem is solved by building
new homes for those people.
➢ The fourth reason is mining. mining is basically done cutting
down large forests to find minerals, ores etc in ground, we can
see many projects such as uranium mining which are
degrading forests vastly.
OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED:
The objective to be achieved of this project for me is to adopt a
plant and to spread the awareness about the advantages of
adopting a plant. I soaked a seed and grew a plant on our balcony. I
asked other people to grow plants and donated a plant to my friend.
I gave awareness to my family and friends about the importance of a
plant and made them grow at least a plant in their house. this is all
4
about letting people know about the advantages of growing a plant.
the best thing about all of this process is the growing community of
the team “save trees”. this is all the planet wanted.
STEPS THAT I TOOK TO ACHIEVE OBJECTIVE
1.Planning right tree for right soil-
know your property and what space you have. Determine
which areas you can most Effectively shade, and then select the
right tree for the location.
“Right tree means the species and full-grown size of the tree is
best suited for your home and the area you have available to
plant the tree”.
Right place means the tree has enough space to grow to its full,
mature height, and its root system has the space it need to
grow fully without interfering with surrounding infrastructures
or underground pipes or utility lines.
2. Proper hole-
Once you select the prepare place and gather equipment to dig
a planting hole. When preparing any hole for planting, make it
three times wider than the current root mass but never deeper
than the plant was growing in its previous environment.
3.Ensure root ball is 1-2" above soil-
Placing trees and shrubs in their new environment with up to
25% of the root ball Higher than the surrounding soil level.
Then taper soil up to cover all the roots and add A generous
5
layer of mulch above that. Newly distributed soil tends to
settle, and shrubs and tree planted at grade can quickly settle
below grade and succumb to root rot or Disease.
4. Loosen root from root ball-
Once the plant is out of its container, look at the roots. If they
are densely bound in a circular pattern or have started growing
in the shape of the container (even slightly) break up the
pattern.
It is vitally important to stop this pattern now. The biggest
mistake you can make at this Point is to place a rootbound
plant into the ground as is. Unless you break up the Pattern,
you have likely sentenced the plant to a slow death. At a
minimum it will Likely never establish or reach a fraction of its
potential.
5. Don’t amend the soil-
Contrary to traditional planting methods, contemporary
research indicates that you Should not amend the hole with
additional organic material (unless you intend to Amend the
entire area where roots will eventually grow). Roots growing in
amended soil Rarely venture into harder native soil. The long
term affect is a smaller root system, Reduced growth and a less
hardy plant. Instead, simply break up the clumps in existing soil,
remove the rocks and back fill Studies show plant roots growing
in only the native soil did a better job at Establishing and
expanding beyond the original hole .
6. Eliminate air pockets-
While you could lightly tamp or hand-pack the soil around the
plant roots to ensure good Soil-to-root contact, I prefer to add
a stiff spray of water to the hole after back filling Halfway. Not
only does it provide needed moisture, but the water also helps
6
eliminate air Pockets that could otherwise result in dead roots
or worse (without compacting the soil too Much). Finally, water
again gently but thoroughly once all the soil is in place.
7.Mulching
Helps save water promotes healthy root growth. Placing mulch
like wood chips around the base of your tree has many
benefits, from reducing temperature, to keeping out Weeds, to
protecting from moisture extremes. It is best place to mulch 2-
4 inches Deep and cover as much of tree' s root system as
possible. Keep mulch 4-6 inches away from your tree’s trunk.
8. Water properly until immunity-
The most important job you will have after planting is to keep
plants and tree Well-watered until established. This can take
weeks to months, to even a year or more in so cases. But do
not worry. You can this part of the process on auto, these are
the key steps for growing a plant. not only this, but I also
grouped with my friends and discussed the advantages of
adopting a plant and I donated a plant to my friend. After the
plant is grown about a feet height plant it outdoor so that it can
grow into a tree and can have those beautiful looks and tasty
fruits that it gives to us. the feeling of eating the fruits from
your tree is something that I can’t express.

After 10 months
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROJECT
Due to this project, I was able to manage my stress and make my
mind calm and pleasant as I spent almost a month doing this project
it made me realize the difference in my mental health it is so calm
and soothing. A 2002 review of the research revealed that the
8
people recuperating from several kinds of surgeries needed less pain
medication and had shorter hospital stays than people who weren’t
looking at greenery during their recovery periods. not only this but
plants in indoors also increase the fresh air quality in the house and
help us breathe pure air. this project changed me a lot I used to sit in
front of the laptop all day but due to this project, I used to spend at
least an hour near the plants on our balcony and enjoy the weather
and the view from my balcony.
CONCLUSION
The only way to save the planet from pollution, loss of rare wildlife
species, and a great habitat for the wildlife. this can be achieved by
growing forests, the step to do that is to start by growing at least a
plant every year by each individual. so, this is something which is
wanted for us as well as our planet.
Growing a plant is a great experience. this need to be
experienced by every human being once in his/her lifetime.
destroying forests might be a need to get the products but planting
plants is also necessary for regrowing the habitat and also for our
future.
The effort that is put into the plant is returned to us in the form of
fruits, vegetables, etc. plants and trees are a great example of giving
everything after their death in the form of wood. the only thing i
want to convey through this project is at least adopt a plant for the
cause of the future.
“THIS TOPIC IS NOT NEW TO US BUT IMPORTANT, THE MAIN
MOTTO OF THE TEAM SAVE TREES”.
