The Future
Different ways of talking about the future.
1. Present simple.
• Present Simple with time expressions: when, after, before, as
soon as, until.
• When I get home I’ll watch TV.

• After the film finishes we’ll go to bed.
• I will wait until John arrives before I start cooking.
• Future events that are part of a timetable or routine.
• The train leaves at 8 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Present continuous
• Definite, concrete future plans.
• I’m flying to London on Friday. (tickets are
reserved)
• I’m having dinner at my favourite
restaurant tonight. (table is reserved)

• I’m going to watch the match on television tonight.
