This document is a checklist for equipment and items needed for the second day of filming. It outlines cameras, batteries, microphones, a GoPro, lights, tripods, and other gear that will be used. - 1. Checklist for Second Day of Filming Since the last checklist came in very hand when wanting to film last time, we decided to make a checklist for each time we film. This organises the team as what we need to pack and how to get the right equipment to the location of the shoot. We are now planning to film the moors scene (opening sequence) on Thursday 28th January. We will print this checklist off on the day of filming, to ensure we won’t forget anything. For shooting on the moors, we will need the following shown in the box to the left. We will be using the same camera as we did last time which was the Sony. This means the quality of the film will remain the same for continuity reasons. We will also have two of them to shoot from Eve’s perspective and from Richards’s perspective. Again, we will have two fixed tripods with the cameras as; the traditional fixed tripod will also be useful in our short to achieve scenes that involve few fast movements. Using the tripod will allowus to pan smoothly so that the audience will clearly see what is going on and it will also create a sense of motion. We will charge the batteries beforehand; however, we will put a battery in each camera when taking the equipment and pack two more, to prevent them from running out. We will also pack a microphone for each camera to pick up the sound. For the scenes of Richard and Eve inside of the car, we will be using a GOPRO as it will benefit our short film as it will be easier for us to film these scenes as we can attach them to parts of the car – something we wouldn’t be able to do with most other types of camera. This means the GoPro can shoot from inside of the car, and with result in a better quality picture. This also varies the type of equipment we will use in our short film, showing skill and clear understanding and demonstrations of the media equipment we have been given. Also a GoPro fits in a car easily and is secured by the suction ad on the back, meaning it is safe to film inside the car. With using the GoPro, we need to install an app on the phone so we can control the camera from a distance on our phones. This is helpful as we then won’t be seen in shot adjusting the camera. We will need to ensure a member of the production team has downloaded the app before hand and check that it works before the day of filming, so the filming date can run smoothly, without any faults. - 2. As we are filming in the day and outside, with natural light and then colour correcting it on editing software, we felt we wouldn’t need lights to brighten the shots. However, to be on the safe side, we decided that we should take two lights, just in case it gets dark, meaning we can use light to even the shots out when it comes to colour correcting. We will take two lights and two light stands just in case. We also plan on using the jib, to shoot Richard and Eve travelling away from the moors to Eve’s house just after he pick her up. We will use this for a transition shot, to vary the camera shots and angles and the movement of the camera. We have had a lesson on how to use the jib effectively and we feel like this would contribute and benefit our short film. We would like to use the jib as it will capture the movement of the van quickly from a high angle, which we would not be able to achieve with a standard fixed tripod. The jib moves easily side to side, meaning as the van travels quickly past the shot, we will be able to follow the van with the camera as it slides smoothly and quickly. With the jib, comes a bag of weights and a screwdriver to put the jib together, without this, we wouldn’t be able to set up the jib, so it is crucial we put it on the checklist so we don’t forget. Again, we will take the storyboards and extra scripts for the cast and the story boards to help us navigate the shots and set up the equipment to fit the angle and framing of the shot. As we are filming on the moors, we need to remember to bring the packed lunch for the team, which is why we put it on the checklist. We also need to remind the cast to be dressed in the right costume, which is why we have put it on the checklist to remind them.
