2. CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
The organ system
responsible for
circulation of blood
through different body
is called the
circulatory system.
3. ORGAN OF CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
ORGANS OF
CIRCULATORY
SYSTEM
Blood vessels Heart Blood
4. BLOOD VESSELS
Blood vessels are further divided into 3 parts=
BLOOD VESSELS
Arteries Veins Capillaries
5. ARTERIES
Blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood
from heart to other parts of the body are
known as arteries.
Pulmonary artery is an exeption as it carries
deoxygenated blood from the heart to the
lungs.
Arteries are the thickest blood vessels in our
body
The aorta is the largest artery in human body.
6. VEINS
Veins carry deoxygenated blood from different
body parts to heart are called veins.
Pulmonary vein is an exeption as it carries
oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.
Veins have thin walls and are near to the skin.
Vena cava is a group of two major veins that
bring deoxygenated blood to the heart.
7. CAPILLARIES
Capillaries are the thinnest blood vessels
in our body.
They are so thin that substances can pass
through them.
The exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and
waste products between the blood and
varios body parts takes place through
capillaries.
The length of blood vessels in our body is
about 95,560 km.
9. HEART
The heart pumps blood to all parts of the body and is a muscular
organ of the size of our fist.
It keeps the blood flowing continously in the blood vessels and
is present slithly left to our chest cavity.
Heart divided into 2 parts left and right chamber which are
further divided into 4 parts
The lub-dub sound you can hear is the heart beat and is divided
into 4 parts- left and right atrium and left and right ventricle.
Blood flows to atria to ventricle only as ther is a muscular
partition between left and right chamber called septum.
Our heart beats 72-80 timer per minute and slows down when
we sleeps aand beats fast when we are scared, excited, angry
or doing a physical exercise.
11. BLOOD
Blood transports oxygen from the lungs to
all other parts and co2 from the organs to
the lungs.
It transports nutrients absorbed by the
digestive system to different parts of the
body.
It takes away waste products from
different parts of the body for excretion.
12. PROCESS OF CIRCULATION
Vena cava brings deoxygenated blood to the
heart from all other parts of the body.
The heart pumps this blood to the lungs
through pulmonary artery and in the lungs the
blood absorbs O2 and gives out CO2.
The oxygenated blood is returned to the
heart from the lungs through pulmonary vein.
The aorta carries this oxygenated blood from
the heart to all parts of the body
