Types of Software Apps = Applications
Primary Application Characteristics “Primary App” Feature-rich Good help files The “de facto” standard (if possible) Or common characteristics w/ de facto standard A textbook using the Primary App
Step 1 Select the category of instruction:  eg. Word Processing Select the Primary App eg. Microsoft Word Use it to teach ClickSmart™ Steps
Step 2 – Teach Click Smart™ Menus Toolbars Drop Down Arrows Help Panes Dialog Boxes
2A – Model it on one toolbar Microsoft Word – look at an example
2B - Teams Assign toolbars to be explored by teams Teams share what they learned
Step 3 - Production Back to the basics textbook STILL have the students do a few exercises
Step 4 – Assessment Give an “application” test Creation of an artifact using the skills Some skills that WERE NOT taught (make sure that you can look it up easily in help the way you write the terms)
Step 5 - Visual Workshops in Secondary Apps & Comparisons 5A - Visual Artifact Creation A final artifact (polished, finished work) Select a secondary app Ask students to go in the app and create a product that looks like the visual example without coaching from you (can help each other) 5B – Comparison Reflective blog post comparing the two applications
Step 6 – Documentation Creation Screen Shots Screen Casting Using Wikis “ Teach” an assigned topic using a variety of media
