IT Skills
• It is the delivery of on-demand computing service over the
Internet
• It is a set of tools provided on the internet that let us spend less
time managing and more time creating.
Types of Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing is divided into two wide categories :
1) Deployment Model
2) Service Model
Deployment Model
There are three types of cloud on basis of deployment model :
Public cloud Private cloud Hybrid cloud
2 – Private Cloud
• The cloud infrastructure is exclusively operated by a single organization.
• It can be managed by the organization or a third party
3. Hybrid Cloud
Contains features of both Public and Private Cloud.
One cloud is managed by the user (typically called “private cloud”)
and at least one cloud is managed by a third party (typically called
“public cloud”).
Cloud Computing
PaaS:
• Platform as-a-service
• PaaS provides cloud platforms and run time environment for
developing ,testing & managing applications so that developers can
build applications over the internet .
• Used by Software Developers
SaaS:
• Software as-a-service
• A software delivery model where software and apps are hosted and
made available over the internet.
• It is hosted & managed by CSPs (Cloud Service Providers)
• It is used by end customers /users

Applications
ADVANTAGES
1. Cost efficiency :
Cloud computing is probably the most cost-efficient method to
use, maintain and upgrade .It can significantly lower the
company’s IT expenses because
• No dedicated space for servers is required
• No need to deploy experts for software and hardware
maintenance
• Allows Pay-as-you-go
2. Unlimited storage capacity :
The cloud gives you almost unlimited storage capacity.
ADVANTAGES
3. Backup and Recovery :
Once data is stored in the cloud, we can backup and
restore it with relatively much ease than storing the
same on a physical device.
4. Easy Access to Information :
We can access the data on cloud from anywhere & at
anytime where there is an Internet connection. This
feature has add ease to our lives.
Disadvantages of Cloud Computing
1) NETWORK CONNECTION DEPENDENCY
In order to reap the benefits of cloud computing, an active internet connection is
mandatory. Unfortunately, there is no way to get around this fact because we
need a network in order to send files to the cloud and retrieve them.
2) Limited Features
Many web-based applications aren't as full-featured as their desktop-based
versions. For example, we can do a lot more with Desktop PowerPoint than with
cloud-based Powerpoint . The basics are similar, but the cloud application lacks
many of PowerPoint's advanced features.
3) Risk of data confidentiality
There is always a risk that user data can be accessed by other people. Due to the
high volume of data stored on the cloud, anybody using cloud services is
potentially at risk of cyberattacks.
4) Vendor lock-in
It refers to a situation where the cost of switching to a different vendor
(Cloud Service Provider) is so high that the customer is essentially stuck
with the original vendor.
Cloud Computing
A powerful cloud based version of Microsoft office. It gives us the
ability to access, create and edit Word, Powerpoint, and other
documents from multiple devices and locations. This greatly
enhances our productivity as we can work from anywhere in the
world.
1) Office 365
2) Video Streaming Services
Netflix is the world’s leading internet television network
It uses cloud computing for nearly all its computing and storage needs.
3 ) Google Assistant
It is a cloud-based natural language intelligent bot. It uses the computing
capabilities of the cloud to provide personalized user experiences. Google
Assistant can send a text, set alarms & reminders, and instantly look up
emails. .
 So the next time you say Hey Google
just remember that there is a cloud-based
AI solution behind it .
Social Media is the most popular and often overlooked application of cloud
computing. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and many other social networking
sites also use cloud computing because it provides powerful hosting solution
to manage and store data in real-time .
4. Social Media
Other examples include Gmail,
Google Drive and other Google Apps
Instead of buying, owning, and maintaining physical data centers and
servers we can access a wide range of technology services on an as-
needed basis from a cloud provider like we mentioned above.
Organizations of every size & type are using the cloud for a wide variety
of purposes such as data backup, software devp. and testing etc.
Organizations have moved to cloud platforms for better scalability,
mobility and security.
