What is
Framing?
3. FRAMING
- Framing refers to how media
organizes and presents information,
influencing audience perception.
Example :- News: Headline, photo, who
they interview.
- Movies: Camera angles, music,
dialogue
4. Example of Frame Scenarios
Event: A protest about traffic in Davao.
- Frame 1: "Protesters BLOCK Roads, Causing Traffic
Chaos!" (Focus on the negative)
- Frame 2: "Citizens DEMAND Action on Davao Traffic
Woes" (Focus on the issue)
- Event: A new mall opens in Davao.
Example 2:
- Frame 1 (Positive): "New Mall Creates Jobs and Boosts
Local Economy!" (Focuses on the benefits)
- Frame 2 (Negative): "New Mall Causes Traffic and
Hurts Small Businesses!" (Focuses on the drawbacks)
5. Why it matter?
If the media only shows one frame of
a story, we might not get the full
picture.
- Framing and representation work
together to shape our understanding
of the world.
- If the media only shows certain
groups of people in certain ways, we
might develop stereotypes and
prejudices.
