This study compares the residual integration levels of integration-deficient lentiviral vectors (idlvs) with those of integration-proficient lentiviral vectors (iplvs) in the context of gene therapy. Results show that there is no significant difference in residual integration between various idlvs and a standard d64v-idlv, suggesting that integration is primarily mediated by integrase-independent mechanisms. The research highlights the potential safety benefits of using idlvs in gene therapy by reducing the risk of insertional mutagenesis.
