Norms guide appropriate and inappropriate behavior in a society. There are different forms of social norms: folkways which establish customary patterns of behavior; mores which define what is morally right or wrong and are strongly enforced; and laws which are formally established and enforced by political organizations. A culture is also shaped by its values, language, and trends like fashion and fads that influence social behaviors.
